For Berlin Science Week 2025, Esther and Dyane produced and hosted Beyond Now: True Stories of Women Shaping the Future of Science, a THE BEAR evening in collaboration with Falling Walls Female Science Talents.

Together they selected six women scientists, in Berlin for the Falling Walls Conference, to share the personal story behind their work. The coaching ran over Zoom, with calls to Mexico, Australia and the US. On 4 November, at Theater Pool in Berlin, each told an eight-minute story, live and without notes, with live music in between.

Women in science still rarely get a stage. It’s a male-dominated field, and even more so in who gets seen: when we think of a scientist, many of us still picture a man in a lab coat. Beyond Now gave the stage to resilient women who fought their way to the top and are doing remarkable research right now.

  • "You brought hidden stories that would probably have been deemed 'boring' or mundane to become funny, important and empowering stories. I think all of us were alive that night."

    Paola, storyteller at Beyond Now

  • "Dyane and Esther gave me the most professional advice in storytelling and completely changed my mindset on how to deliver a science talk. Most importantly, they gave me the courage to stand on stage and share my story."

Prof. Dr. Guanjin Wang, Associate Dean, School of IT, Murdoch University, Australia

  • "Thank you for creating the kind of space we rarely get in science: a space to be honest, human and fully seen. Your coaching helped turn vulnerability into power."

    Nereyda Ortiz, PhD in Sociology
